About John

John Hunt loves to write, and does so as often as he can. John is also a pediatrician, pulmonologist and allergist/immunologist. He is a tenured Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Virginia, where he has been since 1998. Dr. Hunt received his B.A. from Amherst College and his MD with Distinction from George Washington University School of Medicine. He was an officer in the United States Navy, serving in both active duty and reserve roles as a pediatrician including three years stationed in Iceland. He has founded several active companies, in transportation, medical device manufacturing, advertising, laboratory research, and pharmaceutical development.

With Kimberly Johnson, he co-founded Trusted Angels Foundation, and frequently travels to Liberia in capacities as a physician, investor, and in performance of humanitarian work.

John feels a personal responsibility to serve children. He is a strong advocate of free-market economic growth as the best way to create wealth and lessen poverty and, by so doing, advance the well-being of children. He does not trust government to do what individual people should be doing.

John has two wonderful teenagers, one of whom is attending the University of Virginia. He lives, for the most part, in central Virginia. His personal interests include studying the work of great thinkers from throughout history, writing, painting, and anything that has to do with the sea.
